Dance Intensive's 2018 Guest Artist Workshop will be Taught by Barry Kerollis!
Barry Kerollis is an award-winning choreographer and renowned instructor, bringing a diverse background to share with students and professionals across the New York dance scene. His works have been performed from New York City to Los Angeles, and his career credits include working as Artistic Director of Alaska Dance Theatre, dancing with Pacific Northwest Ballet, and recognition as "an innovator using unique media to connect with audiences" by Dance Magazine.
Teaching a range of classes from pure classical ballet to his own style of edgy, technical contemporary movement, Barry offers an energetic approach that cultivates strength in technique, dynamic movement quality, and emotional health. In addition to teaching in NYC, he maintaining a busy schedule teaching master classes and choreographing around the world.
As a choreographer, Barry has received many accolades. He was selected out of more than 60 international applicants to choreograph at the National Choreographers Initiative. He was also chosen to receive the Outstanding Choreographer Award at Youth America Grand Prix, and named a finalist at the McCallum Theatre’s Choreography Festival, and Visions Choreographic Competition. His works have been performed in company and school productions, festivals, and workshops across the country.
Beyond his work in the studio, Barry has been recognized as an "Influencer in Social Media" by Dance/USA. He hosts his weekly podcast, Pas de Chát: Talking Dance, on iTunes and the Premier Dance Network, and offers tools and advice to dancers on his popular blog, Life of a Freelance Dancer. Barry and his work have been featured in Dance Magazine, Pointe Magazine, Dance Spirit, and Dance Informa. He was also named among a list of "49 Creative Geniuses Who Use Blogging to Promote Their Art" by Boost Blog Traffic.
Barry is featured in dance book, “Where Snowflakes Dance and Swear,” dance documentary, Dancing Across Borders, and in Bob Rizzo’s educational video, Ballet with Style.
Clarissa Fattoruso is an Italian born contemporary dancer graduated at DAF academy in Rome. She moved in New York in 2014 and started working for different companies such as Flusso Project, Pic Pac, and Valleto Dance. As a freelancer she collaborated with international choreographers and in different occasion she traveled abroad to perform with them. Her last experience was with Anthony Missen, director and choreographer for Chamaleon Company in Manchester (UK). Clarissa is the head of THE WORKSHOP SERIES BROOKLYN. The main goal of THE WORKSHOP SERIES is to create a connection between american dancers and European choreographers bringing them to exchange knowledge through a week of classes in Brooklyn.
Jitka Vesela is a dancer, model, teacher and choreographer with lyrical jazz, contemporary and street dance specialization. She has a Master of Art in choreography from the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, located in Prague, Czech Republic. She has also had training in classical ballet, jazz, hip-hop, house, dancehall etc. She has extensive experience in dance performances and shows in the U.S. and overseas (Czech Republic, India, Poland, Austria, Slovak Republic), on behalf of clients such as Schwarzkopf, L’oreal, and Davines. She performed during NYC Fashion Week, and Czechoslovakia’s Got Talent. She has participated in the following: televised performances (2 seasons of Czech TV series It Was Our Hit. 1 season Your Face Sound Familiar, etc ); music videos (Luis Fonsi & Demi Lovato. Charlene Kaye, Victoria Jones); commercials (MSG, Amazon, Subway, Hanes, American Apparel, T-Mobile, Heineken, Bud Light); movies (“Frances Ha”); theatre (India and Czech Republic); and as back up dancer for singers (USA, Europe, Asia). Since 2009, She has been a judge in Europe’s annually-televised dance contest called Best Dance Group, and NYC Dance Panorama.
